Giro d’Italia 2026 jury report: Four decisions on stage 17

After every stage of the 2026 Giro d'Italia, the race jury publishes an official bulletin detailing all disciplinary actions taken that day. Incidents from stage 11 were reviewed, with fines, time penalties and relegations issued where appropriate. Below is the full list of sanctions issued after stage 17.

All the penalties and fines from the 2026 Giro d'Italia

The UCI regulates the Giro d'Italia and issues penalties for rule violations - from feeding outside designated zones to physical altercations. Infractions are published daily in an evening bulletin, listing riders and staff who were sanctioned.

Penalties range from fines to time losses and UCI point deductions, depending on severity. A recent addition is the yellow card system, introduced to address dangerous or unsporting behaviour in the peloton.

Jury Bulletin | Stage 17: Cassano d'Adda › Andalo

On stage 17, the jury made 4 decisions on the stage. DS Jon Mould (Unibet Rose Rockets) was fined 200CHF for irregular feeding. Markel Beloki was fined 200CHF, with the accompanying EF Education - EasyPost DS Tejay Van Garderen was fined 500CHF.

DS Nik Burjek (Bahrain Victorious) was fined 500CHF for breach of regulations or guidelines concerning vehicle movements during the race or failure to comply with the instructions of the organisation (3rd car in the convoy).

On stage 16, the jury made 2 decisions. Lidl-Trek DS, Paolo Sangalli, was given a yellow card for abreach of regulations or guidelines concerning vehicle movements during the race.

Magnus Sheffield (Netcompany Ineos) was fined 200CHF for unseemly or inappropriate behaviour (urinating in front of public during the race at km 73) and damage to the image of sport.

On stage 15, the jury made 2 decisions. Enrico Zanoncello was DSQ from the race with a fine of 500 CHF, 13 points in the points classification,  and a yellow card for deviation from the chosen line that endangers another rider (blow from the head).

Carlos Enrique Montano (Press) was fined 500 CHF for a breach of regulations or guidelines concerning vehicle movements during the race or failure to comply with the instructions of the organisation.

On stage 14, the jury made 4 decisions. Ben Turner (NCI) received a 200 CHF fine for a sticky bottle, and Leonardo Basso (NCI) received a 500 CHF fine

Mark Donovan (PQT) received a 500 CHF fine and lost 4 Red Bull KM points, thus being relegated to last place in his group for deviating from his line and obstructing another rider at the Red Bull KM sprint

DS Shane Archbold (RBH) received a 200 CHF fine and a yellow card for failing to respect commissaires’ instructions

On stage 13, the jury made 2 decisions. Franco Pellizzoti (Bahrain Victorious) received a warning for leaning out of a vehicle.  Massimio Demarin (Bahrain Victorious) received a yellow card for breach of regulations or guidelines concerning vehicle movements during the race (door opened before the car had been stopped).

On stage 12, the jury made 4 decisions. Riders Ryan Mullen (NSN) and Ben Turner were fined 200 CHF each for irregular feeding, 'sticky bottle.' The respective DS's, Dimitri Claeys (NSN) and Leonardo Basso (Netcompany Ineos), were fined 500 CHF. 

As part of the fight against technological fraud, 43 bikes were checked today. All the bikes complied with the UCI regulations.

On stage 11, the jury made 6 decisions. Riders Filippo Magli (Bardiani CSF 7 Saber) and Tim Torn Teutenberg (Lidl-Trek) were fined 200 CHF for a sticky bottle. The respective DSs, Roberto Reverberri (Bardiani CSF 7 Saber) and Gregory Rast (Lidl-Trek), were fined 500 CHF. 

Frédéric Guesdon DS of Groupama-FDJ United was fined 500 CHF for a sticky bottle.

Ludovico Crescioli of Polti VisitMalta was handed a yellow card for using a non-compliant position on the bicycle that represents a danger to the riders or competitors

Maximilian Sciandri DS of Movistar was fined 200 CHF for failing to respect the instructions of the commssaires.

On stage 10, the jury made 1 decision.  Emil Mielke Vinjebo (Uno-X Mobility) received a yellow card for a breach of regulations or guidelines concerning vehicle movements during the race. 

As part of the fight against technological fraud, 13 bikes were checked today by X-ray. All the bikes complied with the UCI regulations.

On stage 9, the jury made 4 decisions. Giovanni Ellena (Polti VisitMalta) was fined 500 CHF for sticky bottle

David de la Cruz (Pinarello-Q36.5) was fined 500 CHF for unseemly or inappropriate behaviour and damage to the image of the sport.

Lennert van Eetvelt (Lotto-Intermarché) was fined 200 CHF for unseemly or inappropriate behaviour. 

Christopher Juul-Jensen (Jayco AlUla) was fined 500 CHF and 25 points from UCI ranking for disposing of waste or other objects outside of litter zones.

Finally, the organisers included one particularly eye-catching reminder for the peloton. In the jury report, riders were warned that urinating in a bidon and then throwing it away is strictly prohibited.

On stage 8, the jury made 3 decisions. Netcompany-Ineos DS Leonardo Basso was handed a warning for a follower leaning out of a vehicle.

Elmar Reinders of Unibet Rose Rockets was fined 500 CHF and docked 25 points from the UCI rankings after the Dutch rider disposed of waste or other objects outside of litter zones.

Victor Campenaerts of Visma | Lease a Bike. was fined 200 CHF for urinating in public with 76km remaining.

On stage 7, the jury handed out 5 decisions in total. Mikelis Madis of EF Education-EasyPost received a 200 CHF fine for irregular feeding, also known as a sticky bottle, for a short distance. Team sports director Juan Manuel Garate received a 500 CHF fine for the same incident.

Alexis Gandi (Movistar) and Goswin Laplasse (Visma | Lease a Bike), both drivers of the 3rd team car, each received a 500 CHF fine for breaching regulations or guidelines concerning vehicle movements during the race, or failing to comply with the organisation’s instructions. 

Alessio Tonforti of Pinarello-Q36.5 received a 200 CHF fine for non compliance with article 2.3.025 by a team assistant during feeding. Juan Jose Lobato, driver of a team guest car for Movistar Team, received a 500 CHF fine for breaching regulations or guidelines concerning vehicle movements during the race, or failing to comply with the organisation’s instructions.

As part of checks against technological fraud, 49 bikes were inspected and all complied with UCI regulations.

Jury Bulletin | Stage 6: Paestum - Napels

On stage 6, the jury handed out 1 decision in total. Stefano Rubino of Movistar Team received a 500 CHF fine for breaching regulations or guidelines concerning vehicle movements during the race, or failing to comply with commissaires’ instructions.

The jury also confirmed that riders affected by an incident in the final 5 kilometers will be credited with the time of the group they were riding with at the moment of the incident. As part of checks against technological fraud, 11 bikes were inspected and all complied with UCI regulations.

On stage 5 from Praia a Mare to Potenza, the jury handed out 3 decisions in total. Nicola Moschetti received a 200 CHF fine for non-compliance with article 2.3.025.

Einer Rubio was given a 500 CHF fine and docked 25 UCI points for disposing of waste outside of litter zones. Davide Bramati received a warning after a follower was seen leaning out of a vehicle.

Jury Bulletin | Stage 4: Catanzaro › Cosenza

On stage 4 of the 2026 Giro d'Italia, there were no racing incidents to report.

As part of the fight against technological fraud, 42 bicycles were checked today. All bicycles complied with UCI standards.

Jury Bulletin | Stage 3: Plodiv - Sofia

On stage 3 of the Giro d’Italia, the jury handed out 4 decisions in total.

Johan Price Pejtersen received a 500 CHF fine, 25 UCI ranking points deduction and a yellow card for disposing of clothes in a careless or dangerous manner, related to stage 2.

Hartthijs De Vries was given a warning for briefly taking off his mandatory helmet during the race.

Maximilian Walscheid, Victor Campenaerts and Rasmus Pedersen were each fined 200 CHF for urinating in public, with Walscheid and Campenaerts doing so along the neutralised section and Pedersen at km 29.

Jury Bulletin | Stage 2: Burgas - Tarnovo

On stage 2 of the Giro d'Italia, there were 8 penalties handed out by the jury.

The jury also handed out a warning to Kaden Groves for briefly taking off his helmet.

Following the crash of approximately 30 riders with 23 km to go in the compact peloton, the race was neutralised for 4 km in order to assess the severity of the crash, and to allow the doctors’ cars and the ambulances to reach the peloton. The stage was restarted once the medical service confirmed that two doctors’ cars and two ambulances had rejoined the race.

Jury Bulletin | Stage 1: Nessebar - Burgas

On stage 1 of the Giro d'Italia, there were no fines or penalties issued.

Riders who were involved in the crash inside the final kilometre received the same time as stage winner Paul Magnier (Soudal Quick-Step) as the incident happened inside the 5km safety zone.
