Eli Iserbyt announces retirement after battle with health issues
2024 Belgian Cyclocross champion Eli Iserbyt has announced his retirement from cycling with immediate effect, citing the effects of health issues, after posting on his social media.

Eli Iserbyt had ridden for Pauwels Sauzen - Altez Industriebouw Cycling Team and had not raced competitively in cyclocross since the Brussels Universities Cyclocross in February of 2025.
Iserbyt was struggling with a narrowed iliac artery, undergoing surgery in the same month, and it required a significant amount of rest and recuperation, with six weeks of recovery. Unfortunately for Iserbyt, the surgery did not work when he went back to train in May, and since then, the Belgian has undergone three more surgeries to try and fix the blood flow in his leg, to no avail, leading to the Belgian having to require further medical attention and expertise.
In an emotional post on Instagram, Iserbyt said, "After talks with multiple doctors, it's no longer medically advisable for me to ride my bike recreationally and competitively."
Iserbyt had also raced for Pauwels Sauzen - Bingoal, competing in races in and around Belgium with his best result in the road a third at the Boucles de la Mayenne, which was won by Mathieu van der Poel. On the cyclocross side, Iserbyt took home 54 cyclocross wins in his career, with several UCI World Cup events, the aforementioned Belgian title, Superprestige races, three Kopenbergcrosses, amongst a wealth of other notable achievements within the discipline.
