Remco Evenepoel skips La Flèche Wallonne to focus on Liège–Bastogne–Liège
After his victory at the Amstel Gold Race, Remco Evenepoel has decided not to start in La Flèche Wallonne on Wednesday. His team Red Bull–Bora–Hansgrohe confirmed that the 26-year-old Belgian will prioritise recovery ahead of Liège-Bastogne-Liège this Sunday.

Following his win in Valkenburg, Evenepoel had initially left the door open for a late addition to his schedule. “I need to see how I recover, but I don’t feel completely exhausted. I would definitely like to race,” he said to Het Laatste Nieuws..
However, that intention will not translate into participation. The team has opted for a more cautious approach. “He will not take part in order to recover from the Amstel and will fully focus on Liège-Bastogne-Liège,” the team stated to Sporza.
La Flèche Wallonne was not part of Evenepoel’s confirmed program earlier this season, which only included the Amstel Gold Race and Liège–Bastogne–Liège.
As a result, Evenepoel’s record at the race featuring the iconic Mur de Huy remains unchanged. He finished 43rd on his debut in 2022 and improved to ninth place last year, 16 seconds behind a dominant Tadej Pogačar,
His absence also means there will be no renewed clash with French talent Paul Seixas (Decathlon CMA CGM), who recently impressed at Itzulia Basque Country and Strade Bianche.
Attention now turns to Sunday’s Liège–Bastogne–Liège, where Remco Evenepoel will go head to head with top favourite Tadej Pogačar, as well as rising talent Paul Seixas.
